Art History Link-Up (AHLU) is a registered charity dedicated to making Art History accessible to young people from diverse backgrounds. We provide free accredited Art History courses to state school students, equipping them with skills that enhance their academic and professional futures. Our mission is to foster a more inclusive and equitable art world by breaking down barriers to participation.
The Chair of Art History Link-Up will provide strategic leadership, governance, and oversight to ensure the Charity fulfils its mission effectively. Working closely with the Board of Trustees, the CEO, and key stakeholders, the Chair will support the charity’s growth and impact while maintaining strong governance and financial sustainability.
Our current Chair, Toby Monk, is stepping down from the Board after a successful tenure as Trustee to focus on other commitments. Toby joined the Board in March 2021. During his time as Chair, Art History Link-Up has significantly expanded its operations and outcomes.
We are deeply grateful for Toby’s commitment and guidance over this time and we are pleased that Toby will continue to support the Charity, both personally and through his role at Christie’s, one of Art History Link-Up’s ongoing partners. Toby will remain in post until a new Chair is appointed.

We believe art history should be for everyone, however fewer than 1% of state supported secondary schools offer Art History A Level. As a result, there is a lack of diversity in the arts sector and an increasing skills shortage. We are the only charity offering formal Art History teaching to school-aged students from all backgrounds. Your financial support will ensure that everyone has an opportunity to study art history: together we can transform the future of the arts.
