We are delighted to announce that Emily Rose Aidin, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Art History Link-Up, has been awarded a Member of the British Empire (MBE) for ‘services to Art History and to Young People’ in the New Year Honours List for 2025.

Rose’s career in the arts, as a communicator, journalist and teacher has been guided by her strong belief that Art History should be available to everyone. In 2016 she founded Art History Link-Up to provide free opportunities for young people from state schools to study art history and to secure the future of Art History as a subject. Currently, fewer than 1% of state schools offer Art History A Level. With support from generous funders and supporters, some 600 state students have studied with Art History Link-Up, having life changing experiences and in many cases going on to further study in the arts.

Commenting on the Award, Rose said, “I’m honoured to be awarded an MBE for my services to Art History and young people. I’ve been fortunate to work with many organisations and people who feel equally committed to ensuring Art History thrives, in particular those who generously support the work of Art History Link-Up. This
Award is for everyone who has recognised the value of studying Art History.”

Art History is under threat

We believe art history should be for everyone, however fewer than 1% of state supported secondary schools offer Art History A Level. As a result, there is a lack of diversity in the arts sector and an increasing skills shortage. We are the only charity offering formal Art History teaching to school-aged students from all backgrounds. Your financial support will ensure that everyone has an opportunity to study art history: together we can transform the future of the arts.
