Join us on Saturdays during term-time in person or online to study for an A Level Art History qualification.

We are delighted to be partnering again with the Courtauld at Somerset House on The Strand, London, where students can benefit from a dedicated study centre and a world class collection of art, on display at the Courtauld Gallery.

  • The course follows the Pearson qualification syllabus
  • Courses are taught by a team of subject experts in 2.5 hour sessions
  • Study with us on a Saturday morning and cover two A level modules ‘Nature in art and architecture’ and ‘Power and Persuasion: the Baroque in Catholic Europe (1597-1685)’
  • Or join us on a Saturday afternoon when the course covers ‘Identities in Art and Architecture’ and
‘Rebellion and Revival: the British and French Avant-garde (1848-99)’

To complete the A level course, students have the option of continuing to study a further two modules, at the end of the first year, sitting the Pearson/Edexcel A level Art History exam at the end of a second year of the course. Exam entrance is organised by AHLU.

It is also possible to join us for one year and study two modules of the A level course alongside undertaking an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) with us. To find out more about this see our EPQ programme.

We offer expert teaching, led by Ludo Amory and Jack Dunleavy, supported by a team of specialist teachers and teaching assistants. Our online classes are interactive and use all the best resources for online learning including Google Classroom and Miro whiteboard technology. Our visiting lecturers include Professor Craig Clunas, Professor Emeritus of the History of Art, the University of Oxford. We arrange trips to galleries and museums where relevant. We run weekly online homework clubs to fully support and mentor our students and this includes support with Art History university applications and careers information.

*All places are free for state sixth form students, with priority given to candidates from a widening participation background, and to those with exceptional aptitude and ability for the course. Widening participation indicators include eligibility for Pupil Premium (i.e. free school meals) and/or a parent who has not attended FE/HE
